Through the Accomplished, Notable & Distinguished Honours, British Alumni Network recognises the alumni with remarkable identities and accomplishments who are shaping the future and redefining history.​

Eligibility for Nomination

1.​​

1. Self-Nomination: Individuals may nominate themselves by showcasing their achievements, contributions, and alignment with the Honours' purpose.

2. Peer Nomination: A peer, colleague, or friend can nominate someone they believe deserves recognition based on their contributions, character, or impact.

Categories of Honours

1. Accomplished Alumni - the rising stars who are making impact in their field.

​

2. Notable Alumni - the high achievers and recognised within their domain.

​​

3. Distinguished Alumni - the high achievers and recognised across different domains.

General Standards

​​

  • Significant accomplishment/contribution locally, nationally, or globally.

​​​

  • Emerging talent or a well recognised individual

  • May include active, former, and retired roles

  • Evidence of measurable outcomes, recognition, or testimonials

Area of Contribution

​​​

  1. Science & Research: Recognises alumni at the forefront of scientific inquiry and research innovation. This category includes researchers, scientists, and academics in disciplines such as natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, or humanities whose discoveries, inventions, or scholarly work have advanced knowledge or technology.
     

  2. Business & Entrepreneurship: Honours alumni excelling in business, industry, or enterprise leadership. This covers successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, finance and economics professionals, or business innovators who have led companies, driven economic growth, or launched successful ventures and startups.
     

  3. Environment & Sustainability: For alumni making a difference in environmental conservation, climate action, or sustainable development. Examples include environmental scientists, climate change advocates, sustainable business leaders, or conservationists whose work has promoted environmental stewardship, renewable energy, or sustainable practices.
     

  4. Technology & Engineering: For alumni leading in the technology sector, engineering, or innovation. It encompasses software and IT professionals, tech entrepreneurs, engineers (civil, mechanical, etc.), and innovators who have developed cutting-edge technologies, built critical infrastructure, or driven digital transformation in their industries.
     

  5. Health & Medicine: For alumni who have impacted healthcare and medical fields. Examples include distinguished doctors, surgeons, nurses, public health experts, or medical researchers and healthcare administrators who have improved patient care, advanced medical knowledge, or shaped health policy.
     

  6. Education & Academia: For alumni who have made significant contributions in teaching, educational leadership, or research in academia. This includes impactful school teachers, university professors, academic administrators, or innovators in education policy and practice who have improved learning outcomes and institutions.
     

  7. Sports & Athletics: Honours alumni who have attained excellence in sports, athletics, or related leadership. This includes elite athletes, Olympians, coaches, sports managers, or fitness and sports development leaders who have demonstrated outstanding athletic achievements or contributed to sports promotion and mentorship.
     

  8. Law & Justice: Recognises alumni in the legal profession and judicial system. This category spans lawyers, judges, legal scholars, and human rights advocates who have achieved excellence in law, advanced justice or legal reform, or upheld civil rights through their legal careers.
     

  9. Arts & Culture: Recognises alumni contributing to the arts, design, and cultural heritage. This category covers visual artists, writers and authors, architects, designers, curators, or cultural organizers whose creative work or leadership in arts and culture has enriched society and inspired others.
     

  10. Media & Communications: Honours alumni who have excelled in journalism, media, or communications. This includes influential journalists, editors, broadcasters, and communications or marketing experts who have shaped public discourse, delivered impactful news or storytelling, or improved communication practices.
     

  11. Entertainment (Film, Music & Performing Arts): For alumni prominent in creative entertainment industries. Examples are acclaimed actors, filmmakers, musicians, directors, producers, or theatre and performing arts professionals who have achieved distinction in film, television, music, or stage and entertained or influenced audiences worldwide.
     

  12. Public Service: For alumni serving the public sector through policy, or civic roles. Examples include civil servants, diplomats, or public administrators whose work in public policy, international relations or military service has driven positive changes.
     

  13. Social Impact & Community Service: Recognises alumni dedicated to community development, or social justice causes. This category includes NGO leaders, social entrepreneurs, volunteers, and community organisers who have championed various causes such as education access, poverty alleviation, equality, or civil rights, creating positive change at the grassroots or societal level.​​​​​
