Instant Messaging Groups Terms & Conditions

Under these Terms & Conditions:

These Terms & Conditions apply to the Instant Messaging Groups (viz. WhatsApp) of the British Alumni Network.

1. Purpose of the Group

The Instant Messaging groups are created to facilitate Information Sharing / Updates for the British Alumni Network members.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By joining the Instant Messaging group(s), you agree to abide by these terms. If you do not agree, admin(s) and/or the associated business reserves the right to not add you or remove you or withhold your joining request from the group.

3. Instant Messaging Group Guidelines

Networking Events Attendees Only: Members who have not attended our events cannot be added to the Instant Messaging groups.
Regional Group: Members can only be added to the group corresponding to the region or city where they currently reside or where they have frequently attended our in-person networking events. If a member relocates, they are required to inform the admin, who will advise on appropriate group placement.
Respectful Communication: Discrimination, hate speech, harassment, personal attacks, threats or the use of abusive language will not be tolerated.
No Spamming: Unsolicited promotions, irrelevant links, or repetitive messages from the members are prohibited unless prior approval is obtained from the group admin(s).
Privacy Respect: Do not share screenshots or content from the group outside without explicit permission from the concerned member and/or admin(s).
No Sharing of Fake Information: Members must avoid sharing unverified or misleading information.
Relevant Content Only: Share content relevant to the group’s purpose.

4. Role of Admin(s)

Admin(s) reserves the right to add members and/ or remove members without prior notice.
Admin(s) reserves the right to moderate discussions and/or remove/delete content.
Admin(s) are not responsible for any advice, information, or transactions that occur between members.

5. Liability Disclaimer

The admin(s), owner and the associated business are not liable for the accuracy or reliability of any user-generated content shared in the group.
The group(s) do not provide professional, legal, or financial advice unless explicitly stated.
You join and participate at your own risk, and any actions you take based on discussions in the group are your sole responsibility.

6. Privacy

Your phone number and profile information are visible to other members; by joining, you consent to this visibility inherent in Instant Messaging groups.
The admin(s), owner, and the associated business are not responsible if your phone number is misused by any other member of the group. Please exercise caution while sharing personal details with others.

7. Intellectual Property

Use of the Confidential Information and any of the other names or marks / trademarks or intellectual property of British Alumni Network, and of the associated business and of the owner is strictly forbidden, unless it is done so with the prior written permission sent from the email (connect@britishalumni.org).

8. Deleting the Group(s)

The admin(s) and/or the associated business reserves the right to deactivate, archive, pause, delete or permanently close the Instant Messaging group(s) at any time without prior notice. This may occur if the objectives of the group(s) have been fulfilled, if engagement levels do not justify continuation, or for any other reason deemed necessary. Upon deleting, all activities within the Instant Messaging group(s) will cease, all group members will be removed from the group(s) and members will no longer have access to the group. It is the responsibility of each member to save any information they may require before the group is deleted.

9. Removal and Blocking

Members may be removed from the group(s) without notice for violations.
Members may be removed from the group(s) without notice when admin(s) and/or the associated business deactivate, archive, pause, delete or permanently close the group(s).
Members removed may not be re-added unless the admin(s) and/or the associated business decide otherwise.

10. Waiver and Release
By joining and participating in the Instant Messaging group(s):

You fully waive, release, and discharge the admin(s), owner, and associated business and their successors and assigns from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or losses arising from your participation in the group, including but not limited to:
- Misuse of your phone number or personal information by other members.
- Reliance on any information, advice, or content shared within the group.
- Any disputes or conflicts with other members.
- Any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your participation.
You agree that you are solely responsible for your actions and interactions within the group.
You understand that the admin(s), owner and/or the associated business make no warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of any content shared in the group(s).
You acknowledge that your participation is voluntary and at your own risk, and you have read and understood these terms fully before choosing to remain in this group.

This waiver and release remain in effect even after you leave or are removed from the group.

11. Indemnity

By joining and participating in the Instant Messaging group(s):

This indemnity remains in effect even after you leave or are removed from the group.

12. Changes to Terms

The admin(s) and/or the associated business reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time. Members will be informed of the changes within the group(s). It is the responsibility of the members to regularly check the group(s) for any updates and/or changes to the terms & conditions.
Remaining in the group after such changes will constitute your acceptance of the updated terms & conditions without exception.
